Don’t mistake the French Bulldog’s glum expression for sadness, because they are quite the opposite. These dependably amiable creatures are comical with their small but sturdy exterior and more lively than expected nature. While easy to handle and well-behaved around other animals, the French Bulldog does have a reputation for being stubborn. Prepare for 24/7 snorting, grunting, and flatulence as it is all part of the French Bulldog package. While Frenchies do not need that much exercise they love to run around with a ball and play with you. To know a Frenchie is to love a Frenchie.
Lifestyle and Living Environment
French Bulldogs are as comfortable living in an apartment as they are living on a farm. It's recommended that they receive at least a 15 minute walk everyday, however don't over-exercise these dogs during the summer months because they are prone to heatstroke. They prefer cooler climates to hot ones. Beware of swimming pools because they are unable to swim with their short and stocky build.
Common Health Issues
French Bulldogs are prone to: Glaucoma, Retinal Fold Dysplasia, Corneal Ulcers, Juvenile Cataracts.
