The English Springer Spaniel is a high spirited sporting dog that will gladly accompany you while hiking or camping. They beautiful and lively dogs of medium size that have long ears with slight feathering. ¬†This very people-oriented breed is not a one person dog thanks to their affectionate nature, however depending on their genes, their opinion of strangers can vary from friendly to reserved. Springers are not a dainty breed and should not be expected to be a good guard dog. One Springer Spaniel may look very different from another as there are two varieties: those intended to work, and those intended to show. Lifestyle and Living Environment

Springers require a lot of exercise. They are great athletes that can excel in agility, advanced obedience, or flyball. It's important to keep in mind that they are prone to obesity and should be monitored when it comes to the amount of food they eat. Their coat requires some grooming where there is feathering around the ears, chest, legs, and tail. You may like to know that their coats are weather-proof, water-proof, and thorn-proof, however they can acquire all sorts of twigs and grass.
